What the Platform Competition involves for a Competitor
Competitors should carefully read the Rules to ensure eligibility and conformity and the dates for the next competition.
After initial acceptance carried out by independent adjudicators on the basis of the application form, the Platform competition takes place in two stages. There is an Audition for all applicants who are accepted. Each competitor is allocated a day and time for their Audition during the first two days of the Platform competition. From those Auditions, finalists are selected for both the junior and senior sections. The Auditions and Final are held in Routh Concert Hall at Bromsgrove School.
The final round is known as The Finalists' Concert. It takes place on the third day of the Platform before a live audience during the afternoon in the Routh Concert Hall. However, for 2020, the Young Musicians' Platform final will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, 4th April (before the main Bromsgrove International Musicians' Competition Final later that evening) to celebrate BIMC's 40th anniversary. At the end of that afternoon, the Chairman of the Adjudicators announces the order of winners and prizes and certificates are presented.
